Hello, I’m Tiela!

Specializations

Historical & recent Trauma

Empowering you to rebuild a sense of safety, personal choice, and reconnection with your body and emotions in a way that feels manageable.

There are many paths that can lead us away from our core values, intentions, and personal beliefs. When life slows down, you might be left asking yourself, who am I? What’s next? What do I want out of life? If you desire to build self trust and confidence, you are in the right place.

Personal Growth

Codependency & People Pleasing

Are you feeling stuck in relational dynamics that leave you feeling overwhelmed, lonely, or always ‘on’, with limited options? Building awareness of these patterns can allow space to change dynamics towards something that works.

Life Transitions

Life changes can bring up anxieties new and old. Developing strategies to reflect, align, and choose can create a sense of hope while facing uncertainty.

Anxiety, Depression & Panic

Life can feel overwhelming when trapped between moments of panic, shame, and depression. This cycle can feel endless, but it’s possible to break free.

Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”

FAQ

  • Your privacy is a top priority. Everything you discuss in therapy is confidential with a few legal exceptions including:

    • If there is immediate risk of harm to yourself or someone else.

    • If there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult.

    • If court-ordered to release session records (this is rare).

  • Most extended health insurance plans in British Columbia cover therapy sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). However, coverage depends on your plan.

I recommend checking with your insurance provider by asking:

    • Does my plan cover counselling with an RCC?

    • How much is covered per session or per year?

    • Do I need a doctor’s referral for reimbursement?

While counselling is not covered under BC’s Medical Services Plan (MSP), many employers offer benefits that include therapy. After your session, I’ll provide an official receipt that you can submit for reimbursement. At this time I am not registered with CVAP, ICBC, or WorkBC for direct billing.

  • To allow for other clients to schedule into our busy time slots, we ask that you contact us as soon as possible when you are unable to make a session. I offer online/phone counselling should you prefer or be unable to attend session in person. If you are unable to make an appointment within 48 hours notice, the full session fee will be charged to ensure fairness for you, your therapist, and other clients.

  • This varies depending on your personal goals, the challenges you’re facing, the type of therapy you choose, and financial factors. Some people feel relief after a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term therapy to work through deeper patterns.

    Here’s a general guideline:

    • Short-term therapy (4-10 sessions): Great for specific challenges like stress, mild anxiety, or life transitions.

    • Medium-term therapy (10-20 sessions): Helps with deeper emotional processing, relationships, and self-esteem.

    • Long-term therapy (20+ sessions): Recommended for complex trauma, PTSD, childhood wounds, or ongoing personal development.

During your first session, we will create a personalized treatment plan and adjust it as needed based on your progress.

Typically clients will come in more frequently to begin with, and space out appointments as symptoms subside. Session frequency is variable, you’re free to reduce or increase frequency at your discretion.

  • Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length. If you are needing longer sessions, please contact me to arrange an extended session. These are typically reserved for EMDR reprocessing sessions.
